Pre-Sailing Questionnaire
We here at Manny van Bris Tours like to get to know our customers so as to better tailor the trip to their needs and desires. Please answer the following questions so that we can ensure your trip sailing down Europe’s most magnificent rivers will be one you remember for a lifetime.
Name: Alice Wood
Occupation: dumpee. That’s in someone who was dumped by a fiancé who was also a boss. The bastard.
How did you find Manny van Bris Tours? Travel agent back in the day when I was booking the tour for my honeymoon (did I mention my ex is a bastard?)
Is this your first time in Europe? Yes! I can’t wait to meet all the handsome, charming, excitingly exotic European men who I’m told are all over the place there. And, of course, see the sights. Sights are good. Sights with handsome, charming, excitingly exotic European men are even better.
Are you traveling alone or with a companion? Man, is that a long story! I was supposed to be taking this trip with Patrick, my rat-fink ex-fiancé, but then everything went to hell in a handbasket, and now I’m taking this romantic, one-in-a-lifetime trip by myself. At least there will be no one else in the cabin when it’s time to sob myself to sleep every night.
Is there anything in particular you wish to see or do during the trip? Let my poor, abused, broken heart recover in solitude? No, that sounds too maudlin. How about see all there is to see, be the person I’m meant to be, and live everything to the fullest. Bring on the life experiences, baby!
Name: Elliott Ainslie
Occupation: writer
How did you find Manny van Bris Tours? I was given the ticket by a friend who no longer had use for it. I’m told it is freely transferrable so long as the dates are not changed.
Is this your first time in Europe? No. I have visited several times in the past, and speak German and French, so I have no need of tour guides, recommendations of sights to see, or help in getting around. I simply wish to use the time during the trip to attend to some work projects in the solitude of my cabin. Please do not include me in any group outings; if I wish to see anything, I am capable of doing so on my own.
Are you traveling alone or with a companion? Quite alone, and happy that way. As I mentioned, I will be working on this trip, and have no need to be matched up with another passenger, especially a female passenger. I’m not looking for a romantic experience, and do not need assistance in “finding Miss Right” during the journey, as so many tour operators insist is not only possible, but desirable. I realize that my sentiment is contrary to those of most passengers, but I am quite adamant in that I do not intend to participate in any ice breakers, captain’s dinners, dances, disco nights, or other such social activities, group functions, and entertainment situations. Please consider me the resident ship’s hermit for the duration of the trip.
Is there anything in particular you wish to see or do during the trip? All I really wish to see is the inside of my empty cabin.
